SERGEANT DAVE BY DML

Here is a world war two figure from my old collection. He is made by Dragon Models Ltd. The company named him Dave and he is a sergeant in the 1st infantry division. The 1st infantry division is also known as the "Big Red One", the division  has a long history of combat spanning from the first world war, second world war, Vietnam war, first Persian gulf war to the present war on terror. The figure came with only the basic gears that a combat soldier needs but still provided good detail. Despite being an older figure I still consider Dave as an impressive figure.

Standard DML ww2 figure box. Its nice and sturdy.

Sgt. Dave wearing a M1941 jacket, M1943 trousers and boots with legging.
Its been a while since i popped him out of the box.

The Big Red One's patch and his Sergeant patch.

I know that current companies make life like HS, but back then this HS is as real as it gets.
He looks too clean for a soldier, other than that he looks good.

He came with a pistol belt with hand gun ammo pouch, his bayonet, M1910 canteen, first aid pouch and M1916 holster. A standard issue M1 helmet was also provided. A clear plastic stand was also included.

The Thompson sub machine gun was commonly issued to non commission officers (NCO).
It uses .45 ACP often loaded in a 20 or 30 round stick magazine.
It was invented by John T. Thompson.

For his side arm he carried a M1911 designed by John M. Browning.

DANBOARD AMAZON VERSION

I got another Dan Board figure. She is from the Revoltech line of toys. Much like the first Dan Board figure she had light up eyes and the same accessories. But this time her box body had Amazon company's markings. Check out the other Dan Board figure here.

Dan Board Amazon Version

Notice the side of the head has some design.
And the light up eyes.

The head of the Amazon version is the same as the original version.
Check out some new details printed on the box head.

NAVY SEAL GUNNER KITBASH

Almost every squad or team has its gunner to provide support and cover fire. They dish out a lot of fire power giving their teammates time to maneuver. Machine gunners are valuable asset to a group. So far I have not yet purchased a machine gunner figure. So here is my attempt at kit bashing one. I hope his accurate enough, or at least look good enough.

My Navy SEAL gunner.

US Navy SEAL machine gunner.

Head sculpt from Hot Toys John Connor.

M9 9mm pistol and a push knife

Knee pads, hiking boots and gaiters.

Back view showing his back pack and radio.

He carries two saw pouches for his ammo, two pistol mags and several smoke grenades.
I made a simple set up for him because running around with a huge gun plus two pouches full of ammo can take its toll.

FLAMMA THE GLADIATOR BY ACI

The Gladiator games originated during the Roman times. In their times people would go to the Colosseum and arenas to watch their favorite Gladiators battle each other. Several events also include wild animals or a re-enactment of famous battles.

Gladiators were mostly slaves and criminals. They are trained in different methods and fighting styles. Their styles would also dictate their armour and weapons. Gladiators fight for survival, fame, money and ultimately to receive the wooden sword "rudis" symbolising that they have won their freedom.

Flamma was a famous fighter, he won the rudis four times but still remained a gladiator. He was trained as a Secutor. It is said that he fought in the arena thirty four times.

Flamma the gladiator.

ACI's 1/6th Flamma figure.
The workmanship on the muscular body is excellent. It looks real.

Close up of his "manica" or arm guard.

His legs wrapped in cloth and protected with nice looking greave.

Flamma's head sculpt with several scars.
I'm not sure if it is historically correct but it looks good.

Back side of the figure.

Flamma came with a black cape, perfect for assassination missions, or just to hide his face.
In the TV mini series Spartacus, some gladiators worked as body guards and sometimes as assassins.

Gladiator or Sith apprentice?

Nice looking myrmillo helmet with details all over it.

Secutor's like Flamma originated from the myrmillo style.
They wore almost the same armour and weapons.

Flamma with his Gladius and a scutum also know as the roman army shield.

Little VICTORY pose.

This is my first ACI figure and also my first gladiator figure. This kit has good detail on the armour, weapons and especially the body. I hope ACI would make other gladiators in other styles. That way we can get Flamma a sparing partner. That said I highly recommend this figure. Looking forward to get other gladiators.

RESIDENT EVIL AFTERLIFE ALICE BY HOT TOYS

The Resident Evil series is an action-horror-survival game first released in the Sony PlayStation console. It was such a success that the game had several sequels, Resident Evil 5 being the most recent. Other console such as the Nintendo Wii also released several Resident Evil related titles.

After the Resident Evil games, came the Resident Evil Movies. The movie was a little bit off from its game counter part, but still proved to be a hit among its fans. One major difference of the movie from the game is the introduction of the character Alice. So whats so special about her? Nothing much except that she adopted to the T-virus. This means that she can take advantage of the positive effects of the virus giving her some boost in strength and speed but she can skip the part of being a zombie. She also had psychic abilities.

Hot Toy MMS139 Alice

Head sculpt of Alice played by actress Milla Jovovich.

Instead of giving us another head sculpt with a different hair style,
Hot toys provided us with an alternate HAIR sculpt much like the Thor figure.
Good job on that Hot Toys!

Alice came with a standard HT stand with logo and name plate.
An extra coat was also added, Alice wore the coat while flying the red plane.

The costume was nicely done.

Close up of her boots.

Alice came loaded with guns and knives.
First of are her twin revolvers.

All her guns came in pairs.
MP5 sub machine gun.

And last among her guns is her double barrel break-open type shotguns.

Very detailed shotgun it can be opened and came with shells.

Alice reloading her shotgun.
In the movie she used coins as her ammunition.

Alice used this knives to chop of zombie heads.

In the opening of the movie Alice attacked Umbrella Corp. Japanese HQ using this impressive sword.

The only non-lethal weapon she had was her night stick.
But then again with her strength and skill, she can dish out some lethal blows even with just a stick.

Her back side showing the holster for her shotgun and her sword.

I highly recommend this figure to all Resident Evil fans.
Even to military figure enthusiasts because of the cool weapons of the kit.
