NANO BLOCK BLUE BUDGERIGAR

I’m back with one of Nano Block’s miniseries set. This time I got the blue budgerigar. The set is categorized as level one by the manufacturer. The figure is made up of around 60 tiny blocks. Collecting Nano block is very addictive. Each set is unique and is fun to build. I’m looking forward to getting more sets of Nano Block in the future. But for now let’s have a look at the little guy.

 

Nano Block Budgerigar

 

The Budgerigar may be the most popular pet bird.

It is also known as “The Love Bird”.

 

This poor guy is lonely. I’ll try to mix and much some spare blocks to make a female version of him. Let’s hope I make it in time for him to have a date on Valentine ’s Day.

SNOWMAN BY NANO BLOCK

I’m a Lego fan and after putting together the Nano block guitar and Santa Claus I was impressed at the size and how enjoyable these little blocks are. So here is another Christmas theme pack that I would like to show you guys. Check out frosty the snowman in Nano block scale.

 

Nano block snowman is made up of approximately 130 pieces.

SANTA CLAUS BY NANO BLOCK

It’s the time of the year when kids are getting excited to get their gifts, wishing that when they wake up in the morning that they would find boxes of toys under the Christmas tree. Well here is the guy who takes time while we sleep to sneak into our houses to drop off all the gifts to kids naughty and nice. Merry Christmas to everyone and more toys for you and me, I hope Santa gave you a big one. Enjoy and happy holidays.

LEGO MINI FIGURES SEREIS 8 PART 4

Here are the last four mini figures for Lego’s series 8 enjoy.

Figure 13 is a CHEERLEADER.

Back in series one they released a cheerleader but in blue outfit. This time around they made the outfit red and changed the head piece. Now that we have two different cheerleaders, making an army of them seems like a nice idea.

 

 

Figure 14 is the THESPIAN.

He looks like he came straight out of Shakespeare’s book. As a bonus he came with another head or face. The alternate head looks like a skull. A nice touch since Halloween is coming.

 

 

Figure 15 is a PIRATE CAPTAIN.

One glance and you know he is Capt. Hook. Actually he has a hook for his left hand.  He can easily fit in any Lego Pirates of the Caribbean set.

 

 

Figure 16 is the ALIEN VILLAINESS.

A cool figure with a pink head. His face is actually a piece you attach to the neck or head; finally you cover it with the clear pink brain like piece. She also came with a weird looking gun.

 

 

 

 

 

LEGO MINI FIGURES SERIES 8 PART 3

Here are four more mini figures just for you guys. I hope you enjoy the photos.

Figure 9 is the FAIRY.

She has translucent blue wings, a pink star wand, a cloth like material for her skirt and a cool looking hair style.

 

 

Figure 10 is none other than SANTA.

Mini fig SANTA is just in time for Christmas season. He also has his bag of gift with him.

HOHOHO!

 

 

Figure 11 is a VAMPIRE BAT. 

Lego released a similar figure but in brown color in their Monster Fighter series.

Halloween is fast approaching a figure like the VAMPIRE BAT is a welcome addition to my Halloween gang.

 

 

Figure 12 is the DJ.

He came with a spinning record and an album.

The thing I like about the DJ is his head phone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

LEGO MINI FIGURES SERIES 8 PART 2

I’m back with figure four to eight from Lego’s mini figures series 8.

Enough chat let’s go straight to the figures.

 

Figure 5 is a FOOTBALL PLAYER.

He has body armor similar to the CONQUISTADOR, a football helmet and a Matt gold trophy.

 

 

Here is how the figure looks with the grid on the helmet out of the way.

 

 

Figure 6 is the DIVER.

What I like the most about the figure is his facial expression magnified by the lens of the helmet, he looks extra happy. Aside from the helmet he came with a harpoon and two grey brick to add height I guess.

Figure 7 DOWNHILL SKIER. 

She came with pink skies and white poles. Basically she is the female version of the skier from series two, the poles are the same but the skies are pink instead of white. A nice companion for your male skier.

 

 

Figure 8 BUSINESSMAN.

 

 

His accessories are among the coolest in the set. Check out the block representing a news paper it has readable letters, plus his suit case can be opened.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

LEGO MINI FIGURES SERIES 8 part 1

Lego’s mini figures are the heart and soul of the Lego community. These little figures are the citizens of every Lego city or play sets. They give life and character to our miniature cities with their different costumes and facial expressions. Series eight will feature 16 unique mini figures for Lego fans to collect. So collect them we do. For part one of the review, let’s take a look at the first four figures in the series.

 

Figure 1 is the EVIL ROBOT.

He has a claw for his right arm and is equipped with a laser gun.

The torso of the figure has printed detail which adds to the appeal of the figure.  No print on the back side.

 

 

Figure 2 is a cool looking CONQUISTADOR.

He is clad in a nice gold armor and gold helmet. He also carries a sword with him. The detail on his armor and legs are what caught my attention, aside from his metallic gold color.

 

 

Figure 3 is the LEDERHOSEN GUY.

He came with a unique accessory, a pretzel. The hat and its color somehow remind me of Robin Hood.

 

 

Figure 4 is a COWGIRL.

She came with a hat and a rope.  Back in series one a cowboy was also released making them a nice set for your Lego rodeo.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

KRE-O BUMBLEBEE VEHICLE MODE

Bumblebee is a young member of the Autobot group. Spying and gathering information is his primary function. He is also assigned to guard the witwicky family. In the Transformers cartoon, Bumblebee is Spike’s best friend. Spike’s character was changed to Sam Witwicky in the movie version. Originally bumblebee transform’s into a Volkswagen Beetle. In the movie the Volkswagen beetle was changed into a Chevy Camaro giving Bumblebee a modern look. For G1 fans like me I still prefer the classic Volkswagen Bumblebee but sadly Kre-O went with the movie and made him a Chevy. None the less Bumblebee Kre-O is still a cool looking kit and is very much welcome to my humble toy collection.

Like the Starscream Kre-O, Bumblebee has good details all over. The doors can be opened revealing some interior detail, the wheels are movable and the rocket laucher works.

Interior details of the kit include a steering wheel, shifter and seats.

KRE-O STARSCREAM PLANE MODE

After taking apart the robot mode, it took me another hour to put together Starscream’s vehicle or plane mode. The plane mode was as impressive as the robot mode. The cockpit can fit the pilot; the plane has ordinances and other nice details. Scroll down to see for yourself. Click here to see Starscream's robot mode.

KRE-O STARSCREAM ROBOT MODE

We all know that in the world of building blocks Lego is the most famous, but their products are heavy on the pocket. A new contender for this category of toy is Hasbro's Kre-O. Kre-O's first line of products focuses on the Transformers franchise and on the board game turned movie Battleship. Check out my first Kre-O character Starscream.

Just a quick introduction, Starscream is a fictional character in the Transformers franchise. He is a member of the evil Decepticon. One thing to describe Starscream is that he is very treacherous, to the extent of challenging the Decepticon leader Megatron for power and leadership. You can bet that if even a small opportunity to grab power is available, Starscream is there to take his chance and hopefully capitalize on it. On to the figure.

The first thing that i noticed on the box are the Kreons, they are Kre-O's equivalent for Lego's mini figs. Secondly is the gold hologram above the Kreons. In the hologram it says "works with leading brands". Meaning you can mix and match them with Lego!

When you open the package, you get several bags of blocks, individually packed Kreons and an instruction book. The photo above is an example of the diagram in the book.

One thing about the Kreons is that they got more articulation than the Lego mini figs.

Their arms can move outwards to some extent same as the legs.

Here is Starscream as a Kreon.

While the Starscream Kreon was nicely done. This pilot has a little problem.

As you can see the helmet hole is a bit small covering the lower part of the eye.

Other than that it is a cool figure.

A sticker sheet is also provided for added detail.

In this review I build the robot without using the stickers. I'll add them in the future i guess.

Kre-O Starscream is huge. He stands at around 12 inch.

Even if the figure is a bit big he has good balance and can stand on his own, which is nice.

The head pretty much capture's the G1 Starscream.

It is made of soft plastic or rubber.

Clever idea indeed.

A look at the classic or G1 Starscream.

I think that Hasbro's Kre-O line is amazing. You get to build your favorite transformers character with the addition of that character in its Kreon form. The instruction manual was fairly easy to follow making the building process a pleasant one. Transformers fan would have preferred it if the figure could transform unfortunately it can't. On the good side you get to have a detailed and nice representation of the robot mode and or the vehicle mode.

Kre-O Starscream robot mode took me around 45 minutes to an hour to build, and now i need to take it apart in order to build the Jet mode. See you on the second part of the review,
