Any kid from the ‘80s and ‘90s would surely recognize the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoon. And as the new Nickelodeon TMNT series is
released old fans like me got excited and anticipated the comeback of the
turtles both in TV and in action figures. But when Playmates toys released the
turtles in their classic ‘80s look, I told my-self “I need to get them all”. So
the hunt begins! The first figure I got was my favorite, Michelangelo. Before I
show you the figure, first a little information about the TMNT series. The TMNT
story revolves around a rat named Splinter who adopted and trained four mutant
turtles. As the four turtles grow and trained in the art of ninjutsu they are
also exposed to the surface world of the humans. The youngest of the four is
named Michelangelo, Mickey for short. Being the youngest he is also the
smallest of the bunch and is least mature among the four. Mickey loves pizza,
skateboarding and anything funny. But don’t be fooled buy Mickey’s
easy-go-lucky attitude. Mickey is an excellent fighter. His good with his hand
and is an expert in the use of the weapon, nunchaku.
Old school Michelangelo look.
Mickey is in scale with most six inch figure lines. The figure
also has extensive articulation for some nice poses. Thank you Playmates Toys
of bringing the ‘80s TMNT back to life.
Mickey looks a bit too serious in my opinion. I wish he was a
bit more cheerful and looked funnier.
“M” for Michelangelo.
The turtles can be distinguished from
each other buy the weapons they used, the color of their bandana and in the TV
series their belts had the first letter of their names.
At the back we can see a well sculpted turtle shell. Mickey
keeps his nunchaku holstered at the back as well.
The turtles are a pretty well balanced figure but Playmates
also included a figure stand just in case the joints loosen up (the shell is
quit heavy). The stand is designed like a manhole cover with the old TMNT logo
and the characters name. An excellent accessory supplied by Playmates.
