TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES CLASSIC DONATELLO BY PLAYMATES TOYS

Donatello or Donnie is a member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He is not the most skillful fighter among the four but he has the biggest brain of the lot. Donnie is a genius when it comes to computers and machines. His brothers rely on him to make cool vehicles for them. Donnie is no push over though as he is trained to use a staff or Bo. To easily identify Donnie look for the purple bandana that he uses.
Goofy looking 80’s Donatello. Personally I like the funny looking cartoon style TMNT.

Playmates did a good job on articulating their TMNT classic line allowing several action stance and poses.

Donnie looking a bit too serious.

In the 80’s TMNT TV series the Turtles were given belt buckles with their initial to make it easier to differentiate them from one another since they all look the same except for their weapon of choice.

Donnie keeps his Bo holstered at the back.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES CLASSIC RAPHAEL BY PLAYMATES TOYS

Next figure in the TMNT Classic line that I got is Raphael. Raphael or Raph is the one wearing the red bandana and wields the deadly twin sai. He is considered to be the strongest among the four turtle in terms of physical strength. He is easily angered and the most aggressive as well. Despite his temper Raph is dependable and will defend his brothers during a fight. Master of both hand to hand combat and the use of his sai Raphael prefer to confront and attack enemies head on instead of the stealthy ninja ways taught by Splinter their master.

Raphael as he appeared back in the ‘80s TV series.

Raph out of the box. The new Playmates TMNT classic line is in good scale with other six inch toy lines.

For me this face is a nice representation of the hot headed Raphael. Don’t provoke Raph, he will surly lash out in fury.

“R” for red Raphael

At the back we can see his thick and heavy shell.

Similar to the other figure Raphael gets a manhole like figure stand with his name on it.

Raphael master of the sai.

Raphael with the whole gang Leonardo, Michelangelo and Donatello.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES CLASSIC MICHELANGELO BY PLAYMATES TOYS

Any kid from the ‘80s and ‘90s would surely recognize the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoon. And as the new Nickelodeon TMNT series is released old fans like me got excited and anticipated the comeback of the turtles both in TV and in action figures. But when Playmates toys released the turtles in their classic ‘80s look, I told my-self “I need to get them all”. So the hunt begins! The first figure I got was my favorite, Michelangelo. Before I show you the figure, first a little information about the TMNT series. The TMNT story revolves around a rat named Splinter who adopted and trained four mutant turtles. As the four turtles grow and trained in the art of ninjutsu they are also exposed to the surface world of the humans. The youngest of the four is named Michelangelo, Mickey for short. Being the youngest he is also the smallest of the bunch and is least mature among the four. Mickey loves pizza, skateboarding and anything funny. But don’t be fooled buy Mickey’s easy-go-lucky attitude. Mickey is an excellent fighter. His good with his hand and is an expert in the use of the weapon, nunchaku.

Old school Michelangelo look.

Mickey is in scale with most six inch figure lines. The figure also has extensive articulation for some nice poses. Thank you Playmates Toys of bringing the ‘80s TMNT back to life.

Mickey looks a bit too serious in my opinion. I wish he was a bit more cheerful and looked funnier.

  “M” for Michelangelo.
The turtles can be distinguished from each other buy the weapons they used, the color of their bandana and in the TV series their belts had the first letter of their names.

At the back we can see a well sculpted turtle shell. Mickey keeps his nunchaku holstered at the back as well.

The turtles are a pretty well balanced figure but Playmates also included a figure stand just in case the joints loosen up (the shell is quit heavy). The stand is designed like a manhole cover with the old TMNT logo and the characters name. An excellent accessory supplied by Playmates.

SUPERMAN BY HOT TOYS

Awhile back I started cleaning my stash of Superman comic books and action figure. Most of my Superman action figure collection revolves around the DC Direct six inch line and some Mattel DC Universe. But when Hot Toys released a Classic Superman figure (2011) I just can’t resist getting one. Now that the movie Man of Steel is currently airing on cinemas I just can’t resist the urge to make a post regarding this very well made figure. So here he is Christopher Reeve as Superman.

Hot Toys created a nice and huge box for the Man of Steel. They even included a stand for the box.

As we open the box, Hot Toys honors the first man to fly as Superman Mr. Christopher Reeve.
Mr. Reeve made four Superman movies during his time.

Superman the Man of Steel

Nice and crisply printed “S” logo.

Amazing likeness of Mr. Reeve.

At the back is Superman’s iconic red cape with his crest.

Superman came with a Fortress of Solitude diorama base.
He also came with a pair of fist, a pair of regular open palm and a pair of flying pose hands.

Aside from the fortress of solitude diorama stand HT also included their standard issue stand with Superman movie written and the name plate as well.

DC COLLECTIBLE NEW 52 SUPERMAN

As the planet Krypton is about to die, scientist Jor-El and his wife Lara-El sent their son Kal-El to Earth. After Kal-El’s space craft crashed on Earth, he was adopted by Jonathan and Martha Kent. He was named Clark and grew up in Smallville. Later on as Clark grew up he became a writer for the Daily Planet. While trying to live a normal life Clark Kent kept a secret. He uses his super human powers to defend the weak and uphold the law as the man of steel “Superman”. This basically sums up the story of Clark Kent A.K.A. Superman.  As the New 52 picks up the story of Superman here is a figure from DC collectible depicting Superman in his New 52 costume designed by Jim Lee.

Since the New 52 rebooted the DC comic book titles, we get a younger looking Clark Kent.

Superman’s new costume has a modern look to it but still maintains the elegant classic look.

SUPERMAN COLLECTION

Superman’s new movie, Man of Steel is nearing its release date and this makes fans of the comic book icon itching to read and relive his adventures. Like other fans of the Man of Steel I also started re-reading some of the famous story arcs in Superman’s long comic book career. Old stories like his origins, Superman’s epic rivalry against Lex, his defense of Metropolis against Doomsday which eventually killed him, Superman’s funeral and of course his resurrection often referred to as “The Return of Superman” plus the current New 52 Superman related titles. Still craving for Superman I then decided to clean my stash of Superman action figures. And here they are.
