Shazam or Captain Marvel is a comic book character created by
C. C. Beck and Bill Parker. On Febuary 1940, Shazam debuted on Whiz Comics No.
2 published by Fawcett Comics. After Fawcett Comics stopped publishing Captain
Marvel in the 1950’s due to a law suit, DC comics started publishing him around
1970’s and in 1991 acquired the rights for the character.
After the New 52
event from DC comics, Shazam was featured as a bonus short story in the Justice
League comic book. In the New 52
storyline 15 year old Billy Batson was selected by a wizard to wield magical
powers. And so the young boy Billy Batson became the mighty Shazam.
